IT’S TIME TO CALL THE FIGHT!

Join with Americans of all political persuasions who want to raise their collective voices to end the partisanship that divides us and that leads to biased and often unworkable public policy. When one party is in control of Congress, rather than working together to find a compromise that benefits the greatest number of Americans, each stubbornly refuses to give an inch. The result is major legislation that can become law without a single vote by the party not in control of Congress and/or The White House.

The end result is the other side filing costly lawsuits to upend the bill or to gut it or repeal it altogether. No one wins because legislation we celebrate today is vulnerable to funding roll-backs, court challenges, presidential orders and legislative amendments or repeal at any future time. It can and has also resulted in hastily written bills that are passed without even waiting for the results of the review by the Congressional Budget Office that shows the number of Americans who will be affected by the legislation and the true cost to the taxpayers. In short, the partisan divide is failing us. It seems to have become more about each party’s need to score a win than to find common ground with the other side so that legislation is passed with the support of both parties.

Today the “victim” might be healthcare, but tomorrow it could be anything. And, frankly, it probably won’t matter which party is in power if partisanship continues to rule. It is TIME TO ACT. We must right the ship. We must clamor loudly for our elected representatives to work together, to debate without rancor, to be open to respectful deliberation, reasonable compromise and to thoughtfully craft and consider any public policy with due time.

While many political action committees and other organizations exist to support or oppose the policies of the other or even a single policy, most are clearly partisan in philosophy if not by reputation. While there is a place for that, elected officials realize they are getting a message from the other side rather than their base and too often dismiss it. Just look at the Town Halls that have popped up all over the country showing that constituents do not feel they are being heard through conventional channels, poll results or the Media.

That’s why TIME TO ACT PAC was formed. We seek to give a powerful, united voice to Americans of all political persuasions about issues that are “party-blind” and potentially can or in the future will affect us all . . . think Healthcare, Medicare and Social Security. Every American is or will be impacted by public policy that funds and regulates each of these. And what about taxes? Every American is already affected by who benefits from tax cuts and who feels the negative effects of cuts to vital programs and to increases to their own personal tax bills that result.

By building a nationwide army of voting Americans from all political persuasions and walks of life, TIME TO ACT PAC will be recognized as a force to be reckoned with as elections near–and in between as legislation is introduced, considered and voted on. We are not a here today, gone tomorrow PAC that goes inactive or defunct when their single issue is resolved or retired. We will continue to be heard on issues that cross party lines and will be personally felt by a significant number of Americans. Because we speak with a common, united voice—what we say will matter to our elected officials.
